School of Prayer

On Saturday, 23rd of January, SPTC teamed up with HTB’s prayer department to host the ‘School of Prayer’.  It was a very exciting day with 400 people turning up eager to learn more about how to pray.  Pete Greig, Director of Prayer at Holy Trinity Brompton, began the day with a talk entitled ‘Growing in Prayer’.  Graham Tomlin, Principle of St Paul’s Theological Centre spoke on Martin Luther’s writings and insights on prayer.  The former Bishop of Coventry, Simon Barrington-Ward came for the day to talk about what he had learned from C.S. Lewis (personally!) about prayer, as well as giving a wonderful insight into The Jesus Prayer.  The day ended with a time of prayer guided by Pete Greig.

"The day of teaching on prayer was hugely encouraging and reinvigorating. Bishop Simon's beautiful anecdotal reflections on CS Lewis brought tears to many eyes and beckoned us to see God's world through God's eyes, with God's purpose for its renewal at the centre of our wonder and our groaning. And Pete Greig inviting us to call to mind God's promises before surprising us with the toughest situations in which to stand upon them in intercession, drew out, in me at least, a new vision for boldness in prayer." - School of Prayer Student
