SPTC runs courses for those searching for more from their faith. It brings theology to the heart of the church, equipping next-generation leaders with the knowledge and practical skills to enrich their lives and guide others. All whilst remaining in their local church.

South Carolina Campus Update

We are very excited about the ongoing developments of the new St. Paul's Theological Centre in Charleston, South Carolina.  The Director of SPTC, Andrew Emerton, was able to visit the final evening of their second pilot of SPTC's School of Theology Faithtrack in March.  The course has been hosted at St. Andrew's Church, Mount Pleasant and there have been about 60 students taking part in the evenings.  They are using the set of DVD's that were recorded in Manila in September 2008 and then having worship, small group discussion time and Q&A on each evening. 

Apologetics Training Day

On May 9th we held a day conference with the Zacharias Trust at St Paul’s Hammersmith designed to address some of the key questions raised about faith in the modern world. Over 350 people came together to hear Professor Alister McGrath from Kings College London, Michael Ramsden and Amy Orr-Ewing from Zacharias Trust, as well as our own Mike Lloyd .

Most of the objections to God in today’s world are moral rather than intellectual so we looked at some of those – for example, is God violent and how can he allow suffering and evil?

Graham Tomlin speaks at the consecration of the new Bishop of Kensington

The new Bishop of Kensington, Paul Williams, was consecrated at St Paul’s Cathedral on the 25th March 2009.  The service was led by the Archbishop of Canterbury, assisted by the Bishop of London, the Bishop of Winchester and the Bishop of Oxford.  

Graham Tomlin spoke at the service and attached is a copy of his sermon.

Bishop Graham Cray recommends SPTC training model

Bishop Graham Cray, who becomes Archbishops’ Missioner and leader of Fresh Expressions on the 1st May, recommended the St Paul’s Theological College ordination training model recently an article in the Church Times.
