School of Prayer

On Saturday, 23rd of January, SPTC teamed up with HTB’s prayer department to host the ‘School of Prayer’.  It was a very exciting day with 400 people turning up eager to learn more about how to pray.  Pete Greig, Director of Prayer at Holy Trinity Brompton, began the day with a talk entitled ‘Growing in Prayer’.  Graham Tomlin, Principle of St Paul’s Theological Centre spoke on Martin Luther’s writings and insights on prayer.

How we deal with our emotions is an increasingly popular topic.  Yet things seem to be getting worse not better, with growing numbers of people suffering from depression.  People are looking to faith and spirituality for answers -- but is the church ready to respond?

School of Prayer

SPTC are running a 'School of Prayer' event designed to inform and ignite your prayer life by exploring the ancient riches of Christian prayer. Included in the day will be insights into prayer from some past masters, including C.S. Lewis (by Simon Barrington-Ward who knew him personally) and Martin Luther (by Graham Tomlin). The 'School of Prayer' forms part of St Paul's Theological Centre's 'School of Theology', but for once, they are opening out the invitation to others as this is such a vital area for everyone.

Back to Basics or Business as Usual?

On Saturday 12th December, St Mellitus College, in partnership with King's College London and the Centre for Contextual Theology is hosting a day conference on a Christian response to the economic recession.  The two main speakers will be Prof John Milbank of Nottingham University, one of the UK's top theologicans, and Andrew Dilnot, Principal of St Hugh's College Oxford, former Director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies and one of the UK's formeost economists.  There will also be a panel of commentators from the worlds of Finance, Politics, Theology and the Ch
