We're Bristol City, we always believe.....
This Saturday is going to be some day. My beloved Bristol City are in the Championship play-off final at Wembley. 90 minutes away from the Premier League. Yes I know we’ll probably come straight down again, and we might even do a Derby and win only one game all season, but it would still be worth it. I have supported this team for over 40 years, done my time in Peterborough, Wycombe, Walsall, Port Vale, Brentford, Swindon etc. as well as countless home games over the years. And here we are on the verge of the best league in the world. Cost me an arm and a leg, but I will be there, Win or lose we’ve had a season beyond all expectations. Yet I believe we will win. Lee Trundle will score a blinder to win it in the 92nd minute. And we will be in the Prem. next season. There's a bit of a thing among City fans now around our Christian Brazilian keeper, Adriano Basso, who has this phrase: "Always believe…." The fans interpret it not as faith, but a positive approach to life and well, heck, it's better than everyone feeling suicidal. So spare a thought for me on Saturday. If you're watching, look behind the goal, for a 49-year old codger wearing a City shirt and scarf, singing his heart out like some kid of 14....

Never has been it more urgent for Christians to give a reason for the faith that is within them. In the midst of the conflict between literalism in religion and the disintegrating world view, the appeal of mature biblical faith is very clearThe Rt Revd Richard Chartres
