Some interesting questions....

Interesting set of questions from a blog by my mate Phil Ritchie. Thought I’d have a go at some answers:

1. What translation of the Bible do you like best?
I use the TNIV, but also quite like the NRSV. Still use the Greek a bit.

2. Old or New Testament?
I’d go for New. It has Jesus in it.

3. Favourite Book of the Bible?
Psalms. I try to read a bit every day.

4. Favourite Chapter?
John 20. You know Jesus gets resurrected, but it still sends a shiver down your spine.

5. Favourite Verse? (feel free to explain yourself if you have to )

Philippians 3.10: I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.”. It just captures everything. Highs & lows, cross & resurrection, and the purpose of becoming like Jesus through it all.

6. Bible character you think you’re most like?
Peter – talks a good game…..

7. One thing from the Bible that confuses you?
Why all that blood, gore, fat, and the stuff about white spots on the skin with hair in them in Leviticus?

8. Moses or Paul?
Give me Paul. always interesting, theologian, church builder, honest, passionate.

9. A teaching from the Bible that you struggle with or don’t get?
Predestination

10. Coolest name in the Bible?
Og the King of Bashan – would have liked to have met him
