Man United v Barcelona
Went to the Champions' League Final in Rome last week. Just a fantastic time. Hot day, wandered around the city - tons of Barca & United fans around. Saw a few ruins, museums, art galleries (strangely Wayne Rooney didn't seem to take in any art galleries...) Getting into the game was the most complicated thing ever - endless security gates, checking ticket, passport etc.. Great view (pic attached), great atmosphere. Fun to see the opening ceremony - you don't see it on TV and the Italians know how to put on a good show. The game was fascinating - a touch better quality than what we're used to! When you watch that good football on the TV you miss the wider shape of the game, movement off the ball etc. Barca were brilliant. I didn't feel that gutted afterwards. When you're well and truly beaten by an excellent and better team, it's hard to feel hard done by - there's none of the 'we should have won', 'the ref cheated us', all that stuff. Also it's hard to dislike Barca - great team, great fans & real style. Long walk back to the hotel by the Tiber, ending up with some amazing ice cream in the centre of Rome at 1.00 am. (Rome was dry for the day - not a drink in sight!) I could get used to this European football lark....

Never has been it more urgent for Christians to give a reason for the faith that is within them. In the midst of the conflict between literalism in religion and the disintegrating world view, the appeal of mature biblical faith is very clearThe Rt Revd Richard Chartres

In my view this is the most interesting and important thing that is happening in British theological education
